The streets of Bangkok exotic

After two days of jet lag, I decided you're ready for sightseeing in Bangkok. I put on pants shorts and shirt, and put a towel and a bottle of ice water to pour over my head to protect against heat stroke. I did not let a little monsoon kept inside me. My husband, Dick, came, reluctantly, but I knew it was to maintain control my impulsive spending habits. There is a client. I can not help if my DNA is invaded by signs and lower sales figures. That's what most women. I do it well.

The sights and smells of Bangkok can not be adequately described by a mere mortal like me – but I'll try.

Bangkok is a mixture of elegance, misery, delicious flavors and smells putrid – by overwork, the sewer system under integrated. Visit would be a problem, you might say. I had to keep my head down and a sharp eye on the sidewalk to avoid the various bricks and rocks scattered here and there. An obstacle course waiting unstable finger unhappy. I heard that the excavations have revealed the civilization was alive and well in Thailand more than 4,000 years. Could these bricks are the remains of their searches?

melting asphalt stuck to my shoes I tried to find my way through the streets with water vapor. Dirt, dirt and debris cluttered the sidewalks, buildings and alleys. Running tourists and expatriates around the world took to the streets and Thais that wonderful smile. Bangkok, I read, is truly an international city and one of the largest ethnic mixes in the world people with their shopping, sale, purchase and exchange for cooking and eating. I found caught in the frenzy and excitement.

Shops, shops and more shops, selling leather goods, silk and wool made of art done by actual tailors China Ralph Lauren Thai t-shirts, jewelry, paintings, shoes, household items y. Cars with fruit vendors and seers crammed into tiny stalls points the region. My eyes could not keep my thoughts as I surveyed the excitement around me. Whatever the lady's heart desired could produce, and all I had to do was ask! I loved this place. Vendors friendly smile, wai and disappear, returning minutes later, exactly what that Ms. requested. And tailors were everywhere, each offering ready to take 24 hours. If you have a favorite team buy in, say, Nordstrom, and wanted him twice, all I had to do was give the measure and two others would be willing to have the next day at one third the price paid for the original.

In fact, if you were long enough, you might find them coming to you with their tape measures in hand. In a meeting I was looking at a window in which I felt someone touch me. I turned around. "What are you doing?" Shouted the man next to me surprised. I feared it might be an expert pickpocket as he had been warned.

"Sokay Madam, I stand FOH adapt new clothes. We're doing what you like Goot baht FOH."

"What type of clothing? "I asked, a little less worried.

"Original, lady!"

Got something to measure, and a "Certified copy" It was very exciting, but I had nothing with me so far had given him. "Maybe I'll come back and contribute something."

"Sokay, sokay returns Latah, yeth?"

"Probably not today, but maybe …"

Dick had reviewed a few boots cowboy in a window when he learned of the transaction is carried out. "Christ, do not start. I have more clothes and grooming can be used not to implement them "

"No mattah," the seller showing my pants. "Foh your copy now."

"Well Well, I like these … "

"Would not you rather use? Come, come, my husband hissed as he grabbed my arm and started away. The seller was surprised Dick the explosion. Later I learned that he is out of character for Thai voice or display any aggressive behavior in public. Is fundamentally against nature and Buddhist beliefs. To attend this type of behavior is not acceptable. He looked at his shoes.

"Pardon?" Dick glared hatred. "Could you be more rude?"

"Yeah, well, I know when it comes to Shoppin. Say goodbye, let's go. "

The seller gave me a look of apology, I turned to leave, but I made a mental note of their region. I would like to return – without a husband.

I noticed dozens of vendors milling about. They did not have a specific area where they did business, but on foot was the drums in place, as a representative tailor. If you find any of the living drag them to the store, the fall they are mounted, then go find another customer. I assume you have received a commission by all agencies that brought was sure to find the right place when I got home.

Dick complained he was hungry, a euphemism to slip a few steps from the shops. We have followed his nose to food smells, but as we approached the area, which slowed his pace. "What?"

"Maybe we should wait until we return to the hotel."

I could hear the fear in her voice. "Come on What Have fear? No tourists are inclined to see signs of botulism. "

"Maybe they've been here a long time. They are used for food. U.S. have the stomach. This thing could give us some clues. "

"We have to get used to early or later we will be here time and I have the intention of eating like the natives, not tourists. "

And meanwhile we suffer?

Wow, what a coward! "We to build antibodies. "

I walked in front of him, wondering what I would do if I am a case of going here in downtown Bangkok. I should Lomotil have put some in my bag before leaving the hotel, a hand bag was heavier than a pallet of bricks as I kept adding all that was to follow doing all the things that everybody said I wanted to achieve.

With pots of boiled chicken – feathers floating in the water – fried fish and oysters, along with Car toxic gases and culverts, it was easy to understand how a beginner can nausea. I walked over and sniffed it. Oh, the smells, some good, some unpleasant flowers stale, pungent, fish and other indescribable.

A little later we find the source of odors. Aborigines were street food and products at the gaming tables, trolleys, wood, concrete block, display and sell their treasures and serving food. A basket real aspiring Rolex lookalike pearls and rubies, while the other could sell fish – raw or cooked – voracious flies were probably leave their larvae, as it hovered over the food. With a hand gesture to disburse flies, and exchange of local currency, compared to food has been the digestive system between Thailand and armor, chicken curry, noodles, shrimp, squid, and food important basic of all – the rice.

Next foods were tables with T-shirts, shorts, "genuine" Gucci bag, leather pants, clocks, and "copy" of Dior perfume. The basket may be responsible for the following boilers firing of squid, shrimp and noodle soup, to send their enticing aromas of heaven. I took a quick look inside the pot. I could have sworn I saw very dubious characters in the Find an uncanny resemblance to the squid, bats, snakes and strange-looking mushrooms. You may go into the soup. The basket could be next mu (pork) or gay grob (chicken) and mee, national favorite Thai fried noodles.

Hand, foot, food trucks, dogs are increasingly present voracious awaiting treatment in the fall his way. It was one of the most pathetic I've seen. Dozens of dogs roamed the city, most of them looking sick and emaciated, the future of the skin in large plots. Some were bleeding by scabies-infested with fleas invade most of their bodies battered crusts. With their hind legs in perpetual motion because it scratched, which seemed to be always standing on three legs. Years of inbreeding and lack of attention made more like the cartoon dog real dog. Some appear to have begun to descend from a great race with perhaps a smaller loss in the love nest. Many had at least one of his legs broken and twisted, but at a front with a motorcycle or a car.

Thais do not seem to realize the pathetic creatures, walking or stepped on them. But never seemed bothered by the sight of them and most do not even bother persecution. Seemed to tolerate them – as did the farangs – without showing animosity.

The number of stray dogs, homeless saddens me. Within a few blocks, we have seen, and almost collided with dozens of them. Some mounted, some Looky-Loos looking forward to riding, very few have been beaten and some were just cooling heels on a pile of garbage waiting for a juicy piece to find. The dogs seemed to have the same personality kickoff return to Thailand, located in the center of a narrow street or road, or simply sleeping in the food carts.

Adding to the excitement of carnival-type, sidewalks and streets were the traders who have worn or carried their portable kitchens in what appeared to be old Schwinn bicycle with a sidecar attached. On top of the sidecar was a tray with a butane gas burner, language to keep food hot. On the street he had to sell – the great fire pots and kettles hanging.

Later, I saw cars with skinny tires somewhat fragile, with pots hanging from child in a small butane gas burner, boil full of joy. Ten to twelve chickens plucked, eyes open, looking, Gently rocking the child stretched across the basket. The seller, after removing the fly, grab a handful of chickens and throw them into the pressure cookers, with corn on the cob and cooked vegetables to complete well-balanced meals. Apart from these carts, and stacked in blocks, were a profusion recorders, cassettes, chocolate bars melted in the heat, and statues of Buddha. Everything seemed very unhealthy by U.S. standards, in fact, a ministry inspector Health may fall a stroke, but I said to hell with the larvae of flies and ate with abandon. I asked what I thought looked edible, but dumped small things that seemed to be rolling anywhere. Dick chose to corn on the cob and rice.

I took my mind that if I live in this country, 'd better learn to love their food. And as I have. In fact, I can close my eyes today and remember fondly the smell and taste of Bangkok.

After a day of shopping, walking and eating, sleeping like a log – all concrete and mattresses.
