depends on personal preferences really, but heres some thoughts.
1) where are the best places to go in bangkok?
a) for shopping (high quality and cheep price)
tons of first rate malls: paragon, siam discovery, emporium down to chatuchuk weekend market which is more low end but cool stuff….
b) attractive places… grand palace, jim thompsons house are places i take my visitors. roof top bar for a drink adn view of bkk, tho its not an essentially thai thing
c) fun places … thailand is a very fun country.. bars and nightclubs tend to be more fun than in the west where everything is a little like ‘look how cool i am’… thais just let their hair down… other random stuff.. hop a river boat taxi and see thai life on river… take a tuk tuk ride (but negotiate the price first!)
d) etc
2) where are the best places to go in pattaya? depends for what. its really just a sex destination… not the real thailand.. gross beach, not good people…but a nite out or bachelor party its ok…
